Dear Mrs. Sharkey,

My plan is to update this specific blog post with life events in my life every other Monday so you can come back to it at any time and make sure I’m alive every other week. Also, this will force me to write consistently even if it’s just a little life update… or maybe sometimes it’s a giant short story?? Either way, I’ll be writing something on a regular basis and you will be reading it so it helps knowing I’ll have one person reading what I’m writing.

Also, below you’ll see my first entry which I wrote on my first day of my road trip back to California which was two Monday’s ago.

I know this is probably more confusing than it needs to be right now but I’m going to figure it out as I go, so let me know if you have any suggestions or issues.

Dear Mrs. Sharkey,

I am alive and well! I say this first because I know that’s weighing on you the most, but after that I have had a good start to my trip.

I am currently at Notre Dame where I’m visiting Isabella, Marcus, my friends Ryan & Lindsay, and as many of my college professors as possible. It is hot outside but I’m writing this from an air conditioned editing room in the basement of my old film building called Debartolo Performing Arts Center. 

Did you know Notre Dame has one of the top three film schools in the country? No? Well now you do!

Tomorrow I drive to St. Louis and then I drive to Tulsa, then Amarillo, then Los Alamos, then Arizona, and finally Los Angeles, but all of this can change depending on how I’m feeling while driving. I’m trying to be as safe as possible but also I would like to get back to LA as soon as possible!

I interviewed for a job last week and then I had to read a script and give my thoughts on it this past weekend.

Reading a script like this is called doing Script Coverage in the entertainment industry and it is the primary source of work for any newcomer to the industry.

For the last year or so, I’ve been using Google tasks to keep me organized according to a To Do list for each day as well as long term goals that I’ve set for myself like finding a psychiatrist in LA and practicing the trombone.

I also want to get more into writing generally so maybe this is what I should be writing about each week. Does any of this interest you?

I’m going to watch Casablanca with my sister tonight for one of her classes and I’m really looking forward to the movie but I’m most looking forward to spending time with my sister especially for a class that I enjoyed so much when I took it myself.

“Do you think I can see dead people?” is a line from another movie.

I’ve almost been writing this for 30 minutes so that means I can stop soon but it was really nice talking to you while I had the time and I look forward to talking again very soon.

One more minute left and then i’m done for today and i can go back to doing whatever i was doing before i rudely interrupted my doing with this doing. i was watching the story of a 1000 miles because my friend drew sent it to me because he knows how much i love 1000 miles.
